Veritas Courses

Students have the option to enroll in the 1-3 credit Veritas International Missions/Service-Learning Practicum and/or the 3 credit Veritas course. If studentas choose to enroll in either or both courses they will pay the following fee for an additional transcript from California Baptist University. 

Additional California Baptist Transcript Fee = $300

NOTE: Fee is per term not per course.
Both Veritas courses are optional.

 

International Mission/Service-Learning Practicum (1-3 Credits)

ALL Veritas Students have the opportunity to earn 1-3 college credits for the International Missions/Service-learning Practicum (IMSP).  Students that choose to receive credit will receive a transcript from California Baptist University and pay Veritas the transcript fee listed above.

The practicum will enrich the program and mission experience through reflection assignments, research, and journaling. Participation is required in order to enhance the mission experience. Students will receive one credit upon completing the assignments and service participation. Students may elect to submit a log of hours for up to two additional credits. (Download syllabus here).

 

Cross-Cultural Leadership (3 credits)

Depending on enrollment, students will have the option to take a 3 credit course ONLY available to Veritas students.  ONLY available for semester programs.

This course examines the impact of culture on concepts of leadership, values, expectations, and patterns of communication to demonstrate the importance of leading with cultural sensitivity and to assist students in developing their own strategies for effectively communicating and negotiating with individuals from varied cultures; especially when it relates to a cross-cultural ministry perspective. Study is also devoted to the development and current conditions of minority/majority relations through the study of socio-political and economic causes; consequences of prejudice and discrimination; stereotypes and realities. (Download syllabus here)

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.

ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits are converted to semester credits/quarter units differently among U.S. universities. Students should confirm the conversion scale used at their home university when determining credit transfer.

Availability of courses is based on enrollment numbers. All students should seek pre-approval for alternate courses in the event of last minute class cancellations

Courses are weighted according to the ECTS system. Each course is 46 contact hours, worth 7 ECTS credits. Per the University of Economics, Prague (UEP), 7 ECTS credits represent 3 U.S. semester credits.Transcripts are issued in U.S. semester credit hours.
