ISA Veritas Courses

All ISA Veritas semester students will take their traditional courses at the ISA host institution in addition to one 3-credit ISA Veritas course. Students will choose one of the two courses below. The courses will include students from across all ISA Veritas locations. The Comparative Religions course will be online, and the International Missions/Service-Learning Practicum will be online/on-site.

Comparative Religions (HUM 353)
This course is an introduction to the major religious traditions of the world—particularly Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—and indigenous, new, and secular religions. The historical development, key figures, as well as major doctrines and practices are explored.

International Missions/Service-Learning Practicum (HUM 490)
This course provides upper division service-learning credit for international missions projects, an extended missions experience designed to acquaint students with the implementation of missions principles in an international context through ISA Veritas Christian Study Abroad programs.

Academic Information

Course Availability & Syllabi

  • The courses listed below are only a sample of what the university offers. Please see the full Roehampton Module Catalog linked below (from Spring 2021, for reference) for additional courses.

  • Requests for sample syllabi can be made to the England Program Manager.

Course Credit

  • Students enroll in a total of 60 UK credits per semester.
  • Per Roehampton University, 10 UK credit classes are considered equivalent to 3 semester credits/4 quarter units and 20 UK credit classes is equivalent to 4 or 5 semester credits/6 or 7 quarter units.
  • Credit transfer is ultimately determined by the student’s home university.
  • Classes are lecture style with a seminar (smaller group) following the lecture. Focus is on individual study.
  • According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.

Course Level Recommendations

  • ISA offers course level recommendations for the courses listed in the Roehampton Module Catalog. Please note that the course level recommendations are based on the Roehampton module level classifications of a 1, 2, or 3 level, which correspond with the three year bachelor's degree cycle. Courses classified as level 2 and level 3 are considered upper division and recommended for juniors and seniors with 3000- and 4000-level of experience in the subject. These Roehampton and ISA recommendations are intended to facilitate the determination of course equivalencies by advisors and credential evaluators at participants' U.S. home institutions.
  • If a student does not have the necessary pre-requisite experience, Roehampton will not approve them for the course. Students will then provide additional module choices.

Understanding the Course Code(EX: BSS010C918A)

  • the first three letters refer to the department the course is being offered through (BSS=Biology)
  • the next three numbers refer to the amount of credits earned (usually 10 or 20)
  • the following letter refers to the level (C= Level 1, N= Level 2, X= Level 3)
  • the next three numbers refer to the unique number assigned to the class
  • the last letter refers to the semester offered (A=Autumn, S=Spring, Y-Full Year)

Transcript Information

  • The transcript from Roehampton will reflect UK credits for each course. Please be in touch with your U.S. university regarding credit transfer for this program.
