Overview

Assessment: seminar presentation [25%], essay (3000 words) [75%]
This module considers debates and theories which arise in the encounter between human rights and religious traditions. It focuses on resources within religious traditions for addressing issues of human rights, and on challenges which religious teachings and secular human rights theories pose to one another on questions such as freedom of expression, the role of women and women's rights, poverty and social justice, and sexual rights and equalities.
