Overview

Assessment: case study (1500 words) [40%], investigative report (2000 words) [60%]
In Investigative Journalism, students will learn about the history and feats of investigative reporters in Britain and other countries, and will analyse the cultural and political factors shaping the practice of this type of reporting. They will design their own investigative project and assess its technical, legal and ethical viability. They will identify relevant sources of information and appropriate research methods. They will conduct their own investigation and write a journalistic story fit for publication. Landmark cases of investigative journalism in Britain and other countries will be discussed in class.
