Overview

Assessment: individual presentation with report (500 words) [20%], essay [80%]
This module covers physical, social and emotional development, including risk factors, from conception through to birth. Development through the first two years is then examined focussing particularly on attachment, cognition, the formation of friendships, language acquisition and emotional regulation. The module also examines issues concerning understanding infant and young children?s behaviour, play and communications - early identification and assessment of difficulties. It considers the principles and practicalities of ethical approaches to observing young children.
