Students will analyse the historical, theological, cultural and political issues which inform the discourse on Islam, as well as Islam as a world religion with particular emphasis on contemporary developments in selected Islamic countries. Special emphasis will be given to Muslim approaches to the issues, i.e. those from within the tradition, and how they compare to outsiders? perceptions.
