Students will enroll in the following:

  • International Missions Practicum Veritas course
  • Renaissance & Reformation Veritas course required when minimum enrollment is met
  • Three-four other courses at the American Business School Paris.

VERITAS COURSES

Participation in Veritas courses is required in order to enhance the Veritas experience.

Cross-Cultural Leadership (3 credits/45 contact hours)

This course examines the impact of culture on concepts of leadership, values, expectations, and patterns of communication to demonstrate the importance of leading with cultural sensitivity and to assist students in developing their own strategies for effectively communicating and negotiating with individuals from varied cultures. Studies are also devoted to the development and current conditions of minority/majority relations through the study of socio-political and economic causes; consequences of prejudice and discrimination; stereotypes and realities. (Download syllabus here)

International Missions/Service Learning Practicum (1-3 credits)

The practicum will enrich the program and mission experience through reflection assignments, research, and journaling. Participation is required in order to enhance the mission experience. Students will receive one credit upon completing the assignments and service participation. Students may elect to submit a log of hours for up to two additional credits. (Download syllabus here)

Fall 2 2018: Institut Catholique - French Language & Liberal Arts (Mid September, 2019 - Mid December, 2019)

All students take a two-part French language placement exam: one portion before departure and the other upon arrival in Paris. The exam will indicate the student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll.

  • Students who place into the True Beginning (A1-1), Beginning (A1-2),
  • Students who place into the True Beginning (A1-1), Beginning (A1-2), High Beginning (A2-1) or Low Intermediate (A2-2) levels are required to take a French language course.
  • Students placing into the True Beginning (A1-1) or Beginning (A1-2) levels can take one English class in addition to French language per semester.
  • Students placing into the High Beginning (A2-1) or Low Intermediate (A2-2) can take up to 3 French civilization courses or 2 English courses in addition to French language per semester.

Scheduling: Culture & Civilization courses are typically in the afternoon, and French language courses are in the morning. To avoid course scheduling conflicts, it is recommended that students take a combination of French language and culture courses.
