  • Prior to enrolling in courses at this language level, students must have completed or tested out of a minimum of 2 upper-division college level courses at their home university in the U.S.

Overview

PUBLIC:
This training is aimed at an audience of young adults and adults who have already completed a course of about 400 hours of FLE and wishing pursue higher education in France, live and / or work in France.


DESCRIPTIVE OF THE TRAINING:
Organization:
Practical classes: 120 hours (2 hours daily from Monday to Friday)
Phonetics course: 30 hours (1 hour per day from Monday to Friday every other week)
These courses prepare for the Certificate of Language and Civilization or the CCFS French Language Certificate (indexed on C1).

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING:
This training aims to make acquire fluency and efficiency even precision in various fields (personal, professional, social,
cultural).
It focuses on:
- Oral and written comprehension of long and complex texts (concrete or abstract subjects from various sources) and the
ability to summarize them consistently
- Oral and written communication in complex situations concerning all areas of life and society:
expression of points of view on various subjects, identification and control of affective, allusive and humorous registers as well as
implicit meanings, use of language in a clear and precise way in the context of social relations or
professional by adapting to the recipient effectively
- Improvement of written and oral production by mastering elaborate grammatical structures and techniques

- The acquisition of a vast lexical repertoire and the use of peripherrases in case of gaps
The literary corpus familiarizes students with a series of great texts and introduces them to reading and critical analysis.

EDUCATIONAL APPROACH RETAINED:
Communicative approach centered on the improvement of the structures of the language. The grammatical axis is privileged to develop
the four skills.

PROPOSED EVALUATION:
Continuous control / 20: classroom tests (grammar questions, dictations, written productions, written comprehension, comprehension
oral and oral production)

Final Exam / 80:
- written / 40: grammar questions (/ 20), written comprehension (/ 10), written expression (/ 10)
- oral / 40: individual oral (/ 10), detailed comprehension on sound document (/ 10), phonetic note (continuous control / 20)

Texts of the Anthology of French Literature (Belin), including 4 for the final individual oral + 4 texts chosen by the teacher, on the
biannual theme.
Notions of literary history (chronology of the great literary movements, biography of the authors)
Exercise book (suggested: 350 exercises Level II, Hachette) and exercises created by the teacher
Phonetic progression developed by teachers of applied linguistics.

Production: verification of the understanding of the instructions, orthographic and morphosyntactic correction, coherence
(integration of secondary arguments, justifications and adapted examples), the relevance of the lexicon
Understanding: verification of comprehension (overall and / or detailed) and interpretation of information, analysis and
critical.
