High Intermediate

  • Prior to enrolling in courses at this language level, students must have completed or tested out of a minimum of three semesters (or five quarters) at the college level.

Overview

PUBLIC:
This training is aimed at an audience of young adults and adults who have already completed a course of about 240 hours of FFL and wishing
develop their French language skills.

DESCRIPTIVE OF THE TRAINING:
Organization:
Practical classes: 120 hours (2 hours daily from Monday to Friday)
Phonetics course: 30 hours (1 hour per day from Monday to Friday every other week)
These courses prepare for the CCFS French Language Certificate (indexed on B1.1).

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING:
This training aims to acquire a level of intermediate communication in French, allowing the learner to understand and
to express oneself, both in writing and orally, in clear and standard language, in situations of everyday life. It focuses on:
- Oral and written comprehension of isolated sentences, common expressions and texts or conversations about
familiar areas
- Oral and written communication in everyday situations of everyday life and with clear means
- Clear and simple oral and written descriptions of current or past events, current or past activities and experiences
on familiar topics and various areas of interest
The literary corpus familiarizes students with some great texts and introduces them to critical reading.

EDUCATIONAL APPROACH RETAINED:
Communicative approach focused on learning the structures of the language. The grammatical axis is privileged to develop the
four skills.

PROPOSED EVALUATION:
Continuous control / 20: classroom tests (grammar questions, dictations, written productions, written comprehension, comprehension
oral and oral production)
Final Exam / 80:
- written / 40: grammar questions (/ 20), written comprehension (/ 10), written expression (/ 10)
- oral / 40: individual oral (/ 10), detailed comprehension on sound document (/ 10), phonetic note (continuous control / 20)

Three texts of the FLE by the texts, Belin, + 2 in the method + 2 of the choice, in view of the final individual oral

Spontaneous and directed production: exchanges of information relating to everyday life, narrative of a story, story of a
lived experience, experience, city or museum visit, activities, small talk on a familiar subject, comment
concerning a text or images
Interaction: role plays (groups of 2 to 4 students): request for information, simple transactions, expression of opinions, etc.
Comprehension: work on documents read by the teacher (poems, literary texts) or listened to (semi audio documents
authentic (texts and sound documents of the textbook, songs, conferences, etc.).

Production and interaction: quality of participation (understanding of instructions, overall performance, level structures, lexicon,
phonetic correction)
Comprehension: verification of the overall or detailed comprehension of a sound document according to lexical objectives (discovery,

Production: written expression exercises (appropriation of grammar points and reuse of thematic vocabulary):
Hole drills, re-employment exercises, questions and answers, multiple choice questions, substitution exercises (subordinate / nominal group, etc.),
contextualized exercises, creativity exercises, free production
Writing in groups or individually short texts on a theme (free and semi-guided work)

Comprehension: work on documents read in groups or individually with identification of semantic and syntactic indices
to make assumptions about the meaning
Exercises of literal comprehension: systematic study of the vocabulary of literary texts
Reading exercises of the manual (multiple choice questions and answers to be written) and various documents

Production: verification of the understanding of the set point, the overall performance, the level structures, the lexicon
Comprehension: Verification of comprehension (overall and / or detailed) and interpretation of information in a document.
