High Beginning

  • Prior to enrolling in courses at this language level, students must have completed or tested out of a minimum of one semester (or two quarters) at the college level.

Overview

You may typically choose to take this course for 9, 12, or 15 hours per week, and your total hours will adjust based on your weekly hours.

9 hours per week = 126 total contact hours
12 hours per week = 168 total contact hours
15 hours per week = 210 total contact hours

This weekly hour offering is subject to change at the discretion of the Catho each semester.

 

Each section is composed of 3 to 4 macro-objectives that need to be acquired in a minimum of 90 teaching hours (which correspond to 6 hours X 15 weeks). These 90 hours are the minimum teaching amount.

OBJECTIVES PART 1:

Place yourself in space: ask and give directions

-Linquistic:
Present tense
Imperfect of description, recent past, present perfect
Relatives pronouns : who, what and where
Prepositions and Adverbs of place

Express quantity: in, a lot of, a bottle of?

-Vocabulary:
Stages of life
School, accommodation, health
Time: first, then
Space: next to, on the edge of?
Situation verbs: to find, to locate, to go by, to cross, to go along

Talk about future, about an obligation + infinitive

Simple future
To have to + infinitive

Invite, accept or refuse

Polite conditional
