Overview

The course is concerned with the role of the British prime minister since 1945 in terms of institutions, policy and personality.
The course aims the explore the contribution to British politics of Prime Ministers since 1945. The sub-themes of the course are the contributions made in terms of domestic and foreign policy. The development of the office of Prime Minister will be the overarching theme of the course.
By the end of this programme students will be able to:
? demonstrate knowledge of the important policy (domestic and foreign) contributions of British Prime Ministers since 1945
? explain and analyse the importance of these contributions to British politics
? apply knowledge gained analytically in terms of the development of the office of Prime Minister
