Overview

The module covers the causation, function, development and evolution of animal behaviour. Topics covered
include natural selection, inclusive fitness, group-living, individual differences (or personality), the evolution of
sex, sexual strategies, mating systems, and the evolution of intelligence and human cognition. Non-human
primates are given special emphasis with reference to implications for humans. Students gain experience of
designing and conducting an observational study of animals.
