Overview

This module aims to develop students’ understanding of a range of issues and concepts related to sport in everyday life. It provides an introduction to two of the three strands that the Sports Studies degree covers. These two strands are the socio-cultural study of sport and the study of sport management.

The module also aims to develop students’ use of critical analysis when examining sport. It will offer students the opportunity to discuss both the positive side of sport and the darker, more controversial elements of the sporting world. The topics will be explored through case study examples to show how theory and knowledge can be understood and applied to real life situations.
