Course Description:
This course is designed to improve students’ ability to read and understand current issues around the world through magazine articles, journal essays, documentary films, etc., and develop their own critical perspectives on the issues. Our course will mainly focus on reading, writing, and oral communication, so students will be analytically reading and critically responding to a wide selection of issues such as sex and gender, immigration and foreign workers, food and culture, animal rights, media, religion, and, artificial intelligence. I also suggest that students keep up with current national and international events and carefully develop their own critical opinions and positions on them.
