Course Outline
Bio-products or bio-based products are materials, chemicals and energy derived from renewable biological resources. Presently, many consumer products are derived from fossil fuel resources such as oil, coal and gas. However, in the near future, these products are likely to be deprived and replaced with bio-products from renewable and sustainable biomass resources. Bio-products also include a wide variety of materials such as structural composite materials, pharmaceuticals, health promoting products, biodegradable chemicals, ?ne chemicals for paints and adhesives, and many other value-added products. In this lecture, comprehensive reviews on these diverse bio-products will be provided and discussed.
