This is an introductory lecture course designed for students without background knowledge in neuroscience. The course begins with an introduction for understanding of brain function and discussion of the scientific method. In the first half, we will discuss the organization of the brain (anatomy on a macro- and microscopic scale) and introduce the basic cellular neurophysiological concepts such as how cells of the nervous system communicate with each other. In the second part of the semester, various sensory systems biology will be discussed.
