Overview

Introduction
This is a first course on the mathematical theory of statistical inference for students with a good grasp of calculus-based probability. Chapters 2 through 5 of the text present basic probability, students can use them to review probability theory as needed. A basic knowledge of applied statistics is helpful but not required.

Course Objectives
Basic mathematical theory of statistical inference (estimation and testing problems) will be studied in detail.
