I. Course Outline
This course is designed to provide bachelor students with basic understanding of the process of European integration and main features of the European Union.
The course will address major issues surrounding the Contemporary Europe, focusing on the European Union. The integration process, major community policies and dynamics of European Union will be put to the centre of class discussions.
Whenever desirable and possible, other experts, such as academics and policy makers, working on the related topics of the course will be invited for a special lecture..
The course will be conducted in a highly interactive manner, thus providing students with opportunities to shape their own perspective of European integration and related issues.

II. Class Operation and Requirements
Students are expected to be present regularly at the class, make at least one (group) presentation, and do occasional homework.
Participants are required to read relevant book chapters and articles in the textbook and provided by the professor before coming to each session, in order to be able to participate in the class discussion.
The lecture notes of the professor used for presentation and discussion in formal sessions will be uploaded on the EKU after each session, so that students can concentrate and have continuous eye contacts with the professor during the sessions.
Students are required to conduct a group project, the report of which should be presented during the second half of the semester. The first week of the semester will be used to shape groups and assign topics of presentation.
The project report to be submitted will normally be of around 15 pages (Times New Roman 12P, 1 1/2 space, A4 format). All citation and quotation rules should be respected. Reports should contain ?Reference?.

Group Project (Presentation and Report): 30%
Course Attendance and Participation in Discussion: 20%
Homework: 10%
Examinations: 40%
