Overview

Course Description
Studio VII is the first stage of the 2-semester long Graduation Project development. At this time the student must apply all acquired skills in the creation of a project of both complex program and clear urban meaning. Through the application to the existing city of learned analysis and critic methods, the student must explain the problems, advantages, and potentials of a site he/she must choose.
Based on that, the student should propose an architectural program for a public building or building complex that will add to the
Construction of the city and consolidation of its communal life. The program must be large enough to have urban significance and an impact in the city life but at the same time small enough so the student can complete the schematic design process at the building level, and proceed with the detailing and technical development in Studio 8. As a rough orientation, the built area of around 3,000~5,000m2 would be adequate for the course purpose. Although there is freedom of design and style, a reasonable, constructive realism and economical and social sustainability sense must be a basic consideration. Students are also required to explain the essentials of motivation and intent,
concept, process, and proposal in a short essay in English.

Language
The official language of the course is English.
Although Korean language use is natural on days when the instructor is Korean, especially if there are not foreign students in the group, please note that all presentations and texts (included those in drawings) shall be done in the English language.
