HISPANIC STUDIES, SPANISH LANGUAGE, BUSINESS & ELECTIVES IN ENGLISH - UNIVERSIDAD DE MÁLAGA

This program offers Spanish language and culture courses taught at the beginning, high beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels, while also offering elective courses taught in English.

Courses are held at the University of Málaga's Centro Internacional de Español and are taught by host university faculty. Program participants will benefit from small class sizes. Classmates are international students for beginning through intermediate levels and ISA students for advanced level students.

Students will choose classes from the language level in which they are placed, in addition to electives taught in English. Students will enroll in a minimum of four and a maximum of five courses per semester.

IMPORTANT ACADEMIC INFORMATION

  • Course Selection
    Students must select at least 180 contact hours per semester and may enroll in no more than 225 contact hours. Course enrollment and final schedules are confirmed onsite following a required placement exam.
  • High Beginning & Intermediate
    All courses under the High Beginning/Intermediate heading besides Spanish Language will combine both High Beginning and Intermediate students and are taught at the High Beginning language level.
  • Language Requirement Policy
    There is no language requirement for this program. It is strongly recommended by ISA that students enroll in a beginner language course if they have no prior Spanish knowledge.
  • Course Credit
    The transcript from the Universidad de Malaga will reflect contact hours for each course listed below. Please be in touch with your U.S. university regarding transfer credit for this program.

INTERNATIONAL STUDIES, BUSINESS & SPANISH LANGUAGE - UNIVERSIDAD INTERNACIONAL MENÉNDEZ PELAYO

Sevilla, Spain

This program accommodates students of all levels of Spanish proficiency. The curriculum includes courses in grammar, communicative skills and Spanish culture, as well as business and economics courses in English. Students will be taking courses with other ISA students.

All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Sevilla. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll.

Students who have not completed a college semester/quarter of Spanish language or the equivalent must choose language as one of their courses.

Please note that a student visa is required for programs over 90 days.

Intensive Spanish Language

The Intensive Spanish Language program accommodates students with beginning and intermediate level Spanish proficiency. Students will take Spanish language courses in 3 separate modules, thus allowing them to progress to a higher level of Spanish at the end of each module. Courses are held at the University of Málaga's Center for Cursos de Español Para Extranjeros and are taught by host university faculty. Program participants will benefit from small class sizes. Classmates are international students, the majority of whom are North American. Courses are taught by host university faculty at the Universidad de Málaga.

Academic Credits

All students will need to work with Liberty University to get pre-approval for course transfer equivalency. This will vary from department to department and is up to the discretion of the academic advisor. For visa regulations, and according to Veritas Christian Study Abroad policy, students must maintain full-time enrollment status for the duration of the program as determined by their home institution.

    The Málaga Intensive Spanish Language semester program is divided into three modules of Spanish language courses and allows students to potentially progress through three language levels in one semester.
  • Program Eligibility
    Because of the modular structure of this program, if a student places into the advanced level or above (4+ semesters/6+ quarters), the student may not be eligible for this program and may be required to enroll in the Málaga Hispanic Studies, Business & Spanish Language program.
