Veritas Christian Study Abroad in Seoul, South Korea

Seoul is both the largest city and capital of South Korea. As one of the top financial centers and most prosperous cities in the world, Seoul has the third-largest subway system and the fastest internet connections. At the same time, Seoul still maintains its distinctive culture, traditional social values and historic landmarks.

Konkuk University

Konkuk University is recognized by the South Korean Ministry of Culture and Education. The university is ranked 15th in Korea by the 2014 University Web Ranking and 142nd in Asia in the QS World University Rankings. 

Minimum GPA: 2.5

Language Requirment: NONE (open to all language levels)

Academic Overview for Konkuk University

  • Students will take one Veritas course along with courses taught in English at Konkuk University. There are hundreds of courses from which to choose in a wide variety of disciplines, including Engineering, Business, Information Technology, Art, English Literature, Apparel Design, Chemistry, Music, Mathematics, and more.
  • Courses are taught in English except for Korean language courses which are available for students with a beginning through advanced level of proficiency. All students who enroll in a higher level language course are required to take a placement exam upon arrival to determine appropriate language proficiency.
  • Courses will be taught by local and international faculty. Fellow Konkuk University classmates are both Korean and international students.
  • Course availability and registration are determined on site.
  • Upon program completion, students will receive a transcript from Konkuk University.

Semester Programs (Spring, Fall & Academic Year)

Students are required to maintain fulltime student status during their programs, including:

  • One Veritas course: Global Mission Perspectives required
    • (45 contact hours/3 semester credits; taught by Veritas professor)
  • International Missions/Service-Learning Practicum required
    • (1-3 semester credits; facilitated by Veritas Mission Mentor)
  • Other courses at Konkuk University to maintain fulltime student status

Summer Programs

Students will enroll in the following:

  • Two courses at Konkuk University required
  • International Missions/Service-Learning Practicum required
    • (1 semester credit; facilitated by Veritas Mission Mentor)


Students must meet the following requirements to attend Konkuk University:

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Students must be enrolled at their home institution during the semester before their term at Konkuk.
    • Gap students (high school graduates who have not yet attended college or university) who are not currently enrolled at a higher education institution must provide an official acceptance letter proving their enrollment at a U.S. institution for the semester immediately following their term at Konkuk.
  • Students must have a valid passport by the application due date to receive visa paperwork from Konkuk University.
  • Konkuk University will admit only non-Korean citizens for study abroad.

Admissions Requirements:

In addition to the standard Veritas application materials, all students must submit the following for acceptance into the Seoul Academic Year, Fall, or Spring programs (not applicable for summer):

  • Letter of recommendation from academic reference (on university letterhead)
  • Letter of intent: personal statement describing the student's goals for studying abroad (minimum 500 words)
  • Verification of Enrollment from home university

Academic Credit

Credits earned may vary according to the policies of the student's home institution. For visa regulations, and according to Veritas Christian Study Abroad policy, students must maintain full-time enrollment status for the duration of the program, as determined by their home institution. Students may be required to obtain a student visa and should inquire with the corresponding consulate.
