Ministry Opportunities

While abroad, students will be partnered with a Veritas Mentor who will help them get involved with ministry opportunities and connect them with a local church and the Christian community in San José. Students will meet regularly with the Mentor for prayer, reflection, and spiritual accountability. The spiritual support and opportunities will make their time abroad transformational!

Ministry opportunities in San José include working with an anti-trafficking ministry and serving a family that has adopted abandoned children. When serving with the anti-trafficking ministry, students mainly serve in street ministry, which consists of sharing coffee and cookies to men and women in prostitution, engaging in conversations with them in order to pray for them, and building relationships with them that may lead to a presentation of the gospel and eventual discipleship. Before starting the street ministry, everyone gets together to pray, worship, and have a short devotional, and afterwards, everyone gets together again to debrief.

Students also have the opportunity to serve at Casa de Pan, the home of a family that has adopted many abandoned children. It is not an orphanage, but actually a big home, and the family has around 48 sons and daughters from ages 4 to 20+. Students can help with a variety of household chores and also help with English tutoring.
