This course introduces students to the critical discussion of some key philosophical texts of the Enlightenment era.
Of the figures taught in the course, students should be able to explain and assess in writing their views on topics from the following list:
- Substance;
- Freedom;
- Causation;
- Space, Time and Motion;
- Appearance and Reality;
- The self;
- The nature and limits of knowledge;
- The nature of reality and the relation of the mind to the external world
