Overview
The module presents an overview of some of the most serious environmental hazards, together with an
assessment of the environmental and sociological factors which turn such hazards into risks. Factors which
have the potential to change the magnitude & frequency of hazards, such as the role of climate and land-use
change are considered, as well as an assessment of the usefulness of a number of strategies for mitigating
the effects of environmental hazards.
