  • Prior to enrolling in courses at this language level, students must have completed or tested out of a minimum of five semesters (or eight quarters) at the college level.

Overview

PUBLIC:
This training is intended for an audience of young adults and adults who have already completed a course of about 360 hours of FFL and who wish
develop their French language skills.

DESCRIPTIVE OF THE TRAINING:
Organization:
Practical classes: 120 hours (2 hours daily from Monday to Friday)
Phonetics course: 30 hours (1 hour per day from Monday to Friday every other week)
These courses prepare for the CCFS French Language Certificate (indexed on B2).

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING:
This training aims to acquire both the functional dimension of language learning (we speak for ...) and its dimension
relational and intellectual (we talk about ... and with ...). The learner will communicate and interact in everyday situations of life
(write an administrative letter for example) but also express ideas, opinions, feelings
It focuses on:
- The oral and written comprehension of complex texts on various subjects
- Oral and written communication in situations of everyday life (inform and inquire, make complaints
or express appreciation, etc.)
- Oral and written descriptions of current or past events, current or past activities and personal experiences
on various topics ranging from autobiographical to sociocultural or geopolitical (giving information about oneself, about one's
country, etc.).
The literary corpus familiarizes students with a series of great texts and introduces them to critical reading.

EDUCATIONAL APPROACH RETAINED:
Communicative approach focused on learning and deepening the structures of the language. The grammatical axis is privileged
to develop the four skills.
PROPOSED EVALUATION:
Continuous control / 20: classroom tests (grammar questions, dictations, written productions, written comprehension, comprehension
oral and oral production)
Final Exam / 80:
- written / 40: grammar questions (/ 20), written comprehension (/ 10), written expression (/ 10)
- oral / 40: individual oral (/ 10), detailed comprehension on sound document (/ 10), phonetic note (continuous control / 20).

COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES (oral and written skills): selection to be made according to the needs of the
group-class and / or method used
- To identify the principal ideas of a text to the 1st listening or to the 1st reading: to find the thread, the cultural references,
the speaker's or author's involvement
- Use the context to understand the meaning of poorly understood expressions (spoken and written) and speech-language skills
- React in writing and orally in a personal (and relevant) way to social issues
- Participate appropriately in debates or conversations about social issues by providing information and
opinions
- Write a summary. Rephrase oral or written information in a short written text
- Differentiate the cited facts from the opinions expressed by the speakers or authors.
- Introduction to literary analysis: to situate the texts in their socio-historical context and to comment on them.

Spontaneous and directed production: exchanges of information relating to everyday life, narrating a story in a way
consistent, effectively arguing, ten-minute presentations on a cultural, tourism, artistic or literary topic
Interaction: role plays (groups of 2 to 4 students): ask and provide information, job interviews, accept a
project, debates of ideas, etc.
Comprehension: work on documents read (poems, literary texts) or listened to (semi-authentic audio documents - texts and
manual sound documents, songs, etc.)

Production and interaction: quality of performance (understanding of instructions, structures and vocabulary adapted to the advanced level,
mastery of different language levels, phonetic correction)
Comprehension: verification of the overall or detailed comprehension of a sound document according to lexical objectives (discovery,

Production: written expression exercises (appropriation of grammar points and reuse of thematic vocabulary):
Hole drills, re-employment exercises, questions and answers, multiple choice questions, substitution exercises (present / past, subordinate / groups)

Exercises of literal comprehension: systematic study of the vocabulary of literary texts

Production: verification of the understanding of the set point, the overall performance, the level structures, the lexicon
Comprehension: Verification of comprehension (overall and / or detailed) and interpretation of information in a document.
